   Dennis and Margaret.  Accomplished hikers and climbers.  This English couple climbed up the Mettlehorn (not to be confused with the Matterhorn) in one day.   Dennis climbed Mount Blanc and other high altitude mountains, all by himself!

     Dennis took this wonderful picture of me with the Matterhorn background.  President Roosevelt also successfully climbed this mountain in the early 1900's.

     The famed Matterhorn on the left.  The trail to Schonbielhutte is a contour hike on the right side of this valley.  At the end of the valley you can see Zmutt Glacier.

     Not camera shy.  I believe these are yaks.  They permitted me to get close enough and photograph them.

     On my way to Schonbielhutte.  See the hut on the right plateau?  I am 30 minutes away.  But the uphill climb is a grueling workout :)

     Looking back at the trail I took.  The Matterhorn can not be seen but it is on the right.  Directly on the right is Zmutt Glacier.

     Finally Schonbielhutte!  The last 1/4 mile climb was grueling.  The most beautiful hut I have ever seen.  After having lunch here I will proceed to Schwarzsee hut.

   Before proceeding to Schwarzee mountain hut I took this picture of the Matterhorn and Schonbielhutte. Schwarzee hut is located on the opposite side of the valley at the base of the Matterhorn.
